Political parties in alliance urged to quickly sign MOU’s : Chancellor College in Zomba

Political parties that are in alliance, in preparation for next week's polls, should work on their memoranda of understanding now, to avoid disagreements after the elections.

These are the views of Mustapha Hussein, a political lecturer, from the Chancellor College in Zomba.

The sentiments come as most parties that have entered into alliances, are yet to sign their memoranda of understanding.

These partners include the ruling Democratic Progressive Party-DPP, which is in partnership with People's Progressive Movement PPM, as well as the MCP/UDF grand alliance.

Since the alliances were made, representatives of the political parties have remained mum, on details of their alliances.

But recent observations show that up to now, most of the alliances are yet to come up with their MOU.

And commenting on the issue, Hussein said it is important for the parties to make public details of their relationships, to their followers.

He observes, that the current scenario, where there is total silence, on the issue of signing of MOUs, show that these alliances, may not really benefit the common Malawians.
