Monitors trained on voting procedures.

District Civic Education Officer for Karonga, Father Kasalika Ngulube has said monitors for the May 19 presidential and parliamentary elections should be knowledgeable about voting procedures and regulations to execute their work efficiently.

Ngulube was Tuesday briefing National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) monitors drawn from Karonga North West Constituency at Mwenitete Teacher Development Centre in the area of TA Kilipula in the district.

He said the monitors had the responsibility to ensure that voting was conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner.

"The monitors need to know voting procedures and regulations in order to conduct effective monitoring and render the election results free and fair," he said. Ngulube advised the monitors to record all practices during the voting process whether good or bad. Briefing of monitors will be done in all constituencies in Karonga district, according to Ngulube.
